About This Dealer
History of Our Company

Creating a successful automobile dealership is one of the greatest challenges that one can imagine.  For the people involved, creating and maintaining a successful organization can be an extremely rewarding experience.

Ralph Mahalak Sr. founded Monroe Dodge in 1966 here in Monroe on West Front Street.  When the doors opened, there were eight employees, limited resources and no referral or repeat sales flowing through the doors.

By incorporating a strong work ethic, long hours and great perseverance, sales started to add up.  With the motivation to “Be the Best”, many improvements were made every year.  As the dealership continued to grow, a move to a larger facility became necessary.

In 1975, Monroe Dodge moved to its current location on Monroe Street by buying out Lakeview Chrysler Plymouth.  In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, difficult years laid ahead for the Chrysler Corporation and a lot of dealership closed.  Monroe Dodge did not fold, but instead proved that it was a great company and was going to last through good and bad times.  Many years of hard work and dedication have led the way in this dealership receiving all of the Top Awards from the Chrysler Corporation.

In 1991, American Jeep Eagle closed here in Monroe and two more brands were added to the lineup.  These were Jeep and Eagle.  With the addition of these brands, our customer and employee relationship grew, so an expansion became necessary.  In 1997, the entire dealership was expanded and renovated to give Monroe Dodge a state of the art facility.  In October of 1998, the Chrysler Corporation restructured its brand lines and decided to drop the Eagle Brand.  The Plymouth Brand was also eliminated in the year 2000.

Monroe Dodge Chrysler Jeep is a family owned and operated dealership.  Ralph Mahalak Sr. went into semi-retirement starting in 1991 and is now fully retired.  Four sons followed in his lead, running successful dealerships.  Today J.P Mahalak and Ralph Mahalak Jr. are co-owners of Monroe Dodge Chrysler Jeep and Mike Mahalak and Alex Mahalak run the other family business in Winter Haven, Florida, which also carries Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep products.

The competition in years to come will be the toughest the industry has ever seen.  However, Monroe Dodge Chrysler Jeep has some great advantages over the competition.  One such advantage is that all of the Chrysler brands are under one roof.

Monroe Dodge Chrysler Jeep has grown to become the largest volume full line Chrysler dealer in the SE Michigan and Ohio.

This dealership is a growing innovative company with an excellent reputation, which offers many opportunities for hardworking, loyal people.  Quality future products will help, but good employees will really determine our success or failure.  We make sure we do our job to the BEST of our ability EVERY DAY.  A good positive attitude will be apparent to not only our fellow employees, but also and more importantly, to our customers.
